Welcome in all seasons. In winter you can enjoy skiing in Kranjska Gora or Višarje, you can cross-country ski or you can sled downhill of the Tromeja. Visit Planica hills and watch the ski jumps and ski flying.
In the other seasons you can go hiking, cycling, or simply walk around the beautiful valley of Planica. You can go zip-lining from the Bloudek Giant or visit the cultural monuments in Rateče and its surroundings… In the intact nature, you can pick different fruits and herbs (strawberries, blueberries, mushrooms, medical plants …)
The Margit house
Near the Margit House there are four restaurants offering local food. The guesthouse Žerjav is only a few meters away, in centre itself about 300 meters away, there are guesthouses Šurc, Mojmir and Uh Kavalar. In Rateče there is a grocery store, on the border with Italy there is a duty free shop Kompas and bigger markets are in Kranjska Gora. In the village there are also two churches. Church of St. Thomas is one of the oldest churches in Slovenia where a copy of manuscript of Rateče is stored. It is open by appointment and on the Sunday after St. Thomas holiday in July. Church of Holy Spirit looms over the village and is open every Sunday, after the mass at 8 o’clock. In Rateče, don’t miss the Kajžnkova house and the local holiday on 15th August when the locals show the local traditions and habits, everything is accompanied by good music.
